Bhojpur Encounter: Police Claim Self-Defense, Family Alleges Cold-Blooded Murder
Bhojpur, Bihar
Bharat Tiwari was encountered in Bhojpur, Bihar, and you have probably seen or heard about it somewhere by now. While some are calling it police self-defense, others are labeling it as murder. What exactly happened on the morning of June 17th that forced the police to encounter Bharat Tiwari?
You might be thinking that Bharat Tiwari was some kind of criminal. Not at all. According to the villagers, he was constantly visiting government offices to raise awareness about the issues of floods and soil erosion in the area. When the system failed to listen to him, he picked up a weapon out of anger and challenged the police administration live on social media.
Following this, the local police and the STF (Special Task Force) arrived to apprehend him. The police claim that Bharat opened fire on them, and he was shot in retaliatory firing. However, the allegations made by Bharat's family and eyewitnesses are entirely different. They claim that Bharat had already surrendered after throwing his pistol away, yet the police shot him four times from a very close range.
